I disagree completely with the view that depression isn’t an illness. I don’t begin to understand how anyone who had had depression/suicidal ideations can make such a comment. I’ve had depression for at least 10 years, probably longer. It has cost me a great deal in terms of career, relationships and life opportunities. To have it downgraded to a ‘rite of passage’ and something I can look back on ‘in a year’ and be grateful for is insulting.
